The system of health care is represented in the region by the Korma territorial-medical association, three rural ambulance stations in Barsuki, Oktyabrevo and Luzhok and also 13 medical attendant-midwife stations and two drug stores.
Medical services are provided by 13 doctors, i.e. one doctor per 1,348 residents while the minimum social standard provides for one doctor per 1,300 people.
Emergency medical services are provided by 2 teams, i.e. one team per 8,765 while the standard – one team per 12,500 people.
In an effort to improve the medical aid to rural population and extend the range of medical services the region will boost the consultative, diagnostic and medical assistance by introducing the institute of traveling medical specialists and by setting up a rehabilitation unit in the regional hospital. Moreover, in 2005-2006 general practitioner stations will be opened in Barsuki, Luzhok and Oktyabrevo.
